[01:17.43]The Malian army says its troops have reached the rebel-held northern town of Kidal to secure it for a presidential election due to be held at the end of this month.

[01:29.00]A spokesman for the United Nations mission in Mali confirmed that about 200 Malian soldiers and police had reached Kidal.
