But first the tensions created by Russia's violations of Turkish airspace over the weekend show no sign of abating. Russia says Saturday's incursion was brief and due to bad weather. But the Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg called Moscow's actions "irresponsible". And the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Turkey would not remain patient in the face of such violations.
"Russia at the moment is carrying out operations in Syria and it is trying to create an airbase there and at the same time they are violating our airspace, we cannot tolerate this kind of thing. NATO have taken a very tough line against this. And I'm convinced that it will continue to do so. Any aggression against Turkey is an aggression against NATO."
Against the backdrop of all this is NATO's concern over a Moscow's air campaign in Syria which got under way last week. The US and others have criticised the Russian operation. They say it's aimed at other opponents of the Syrian president rather than the Islamic State militants as Moscow claims.
