Special forces in Colombia said they'd dealt a severe blow to a top Marxist rebel leader by killing 12 of his bodyguards. Commandos launched a dawn raid against a base belonging to Guillermo Saenz, the chief of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. A woman said to be one of his closest friends was killed during the attack. The government described the woman as very dangerous and blamed her for the deaths of 70 members of the state security forces.
A Sri Lankan student living in the UK says she is considering legal action after a holiday company cancelled her booking because her surname was too long. Jennifer Abegoonewardene says she feels her human rights have been violated. Jill McGivering reports.
