Israeli police have arrested three Jewish boys suspected of throwing a petrol bomb at a Palestinian vehicle in the West Bank earlier this month. The attack injured six people, trapping one in the vehicle when it
overturned
. A police spokesman said the boys, who were between the ages of 12 and 13, came from the West Bank settlement of Bat Ayin, close to where the attack took place. Human rights groups say it's rare for settlers in the West Bank to be prosecuted for acts of violence against Palestinians.
The Russian punk band, Pussy Riot, says on its Twitter account that two members of the band have fled the country after three of the group were sent to jail. They were sentenced earlier this month for
hooliganism
after performing a protest against the Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow's main cathedral. The jailed women are
appealing against
their sentence.
An aid operation has begun in the West African state of Niger following floods that have left more than 125,000 people homeless. The aid agency Plan International says at least 65 people died when heavy rains hit the capital Niamey earlier this month. Our Africa editor Martin Plaut reports.
