[00:03.63]Tokyo has been chosen to host the 2020 Olympic Games, beating bids from Istanbul and Madrid.
[00:11.03]The decision was announced in Argentina after secret ballot of members of the International Olympic Committee.
[00:17.02]The head of the committee, Jacques Rogge, made the announcement.
[00:20.55]“The International Olympic Committee has the honour of announcing that the games of the 32nd Olympiad in 2020 are awarded to the city of Tokyo.”
[00:36.57]The final vote was 60 to Tokyo and 36 to Istanbul.
[00:41.92]The BBC’s Alex Capstick was in Argentina to hear the result.
[00:45.80]Tokyo have won the right to stage the games in 2020.
[00:50.79]They were considered the favourites in the build-up to this vote and they put in a very strong performance their presentation today.
