Micheal Jordon will be heading a five-member class into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September along with his Dream Team teammates David Robinson and John Stockton. The announcement of Jordon's selection and others was made in Detroit Monday. Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan and Rutgers women's coach C. Vivian Stringer are also part of the class.
Induction is Sept. 10-12 in Springfield, Mass., home of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
"I don't like being up here for the Hall of Fame because at that time your basketball career is completely over," said Jordan, who retired twice. "I was hoping this day would be 20 more years, or actually go in when I'm dead and gone."
Jordan’s selection was never in doubt as the former Chicago Bulls star dominated the court unlike any other of his generation. Considered by many to be the greatest basketball player of all time Jordan collected five MVP awards, won ten NBA scoring titles, six NBA titles, Defensive Player of the Year honors and collected numerous awards as a North Carolina Tar Heel under Dean Smith.
Jordan ended his career with 32,292 points (third all-time), 6,672 rebounds and 5,633 assists.
