German striker Marko Marin has been transferred from Borussia Moenchengladbach to Werder Bremen, both the Bundesliga clubs announced on Wednesday. The 20-year-old forward, known for his nimble dribbling and rapid breakthrough, will officially switch to the German Cup winners on July 1.
The transfer of Marin ended luckily after disagreement about the transfer fee was dissolved by the two clubs.
"We delivered a fair offer, and in line with the market. After all, Marko Marin is very keen to be with us," said Klaus Allofs, manager of Werder Bremen.
"Marko has blossomed with us from a talented youth prospect into a full international. Now we wish him every happiness and success at Werder," said Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl.
Marin moved from Eintracht Frankfurt's junior team to Borussia in 2005, rapidly working his way up to a place in the first team squad by the second half of the 2006-07 season.
So far, he played 68 times for Moenchengladbach, bagging eight goals. Marin has represented Germany six times, scoring once.
In a relevant development, Thomas Gerstner has been appointed as the new head coach of Arminia Bielefeld.
Gerstner, 42, comes from Austrian club Sturm Graz, where he was working as assistant coach to Franco Foda last season. He has been given a contract with Bielefeld until June 2010.
