Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu and beat Russian Nikolay Davydenko in the German Open final after winning their semifinal matches in Hamburg on Saturday. Mathieu, ranked 39th in the world, defeated Uruguayan qualifier Pablo Cuevas 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 while Davydenko edged past Spaniard David Ferrer 7-5, 7-6.
Mathieu'll be looking for his fifth career title. Mathieu holds a 2-0 career edge over Davydenko, who also has not won a title this year.
