In another eye-catching game on the day, ambitious German soccer giant Bayern Munich suffered a snub with the second draw ofthe season as they were tied 1-1 by Werder Bremen.
Last week, Bayern visited Hoffenheim to end up the opening game of the season with a disappointing draw.
On Saturday, Bayern forward Mario Gomez opened his Bundesliga scoring account for the German record champions with less than twenty minutes remaining, cancelling out a first-half strike by Mesut Ozil.
In the 39th minute, Aaron Hunt made space down the left and found Ozil in the box, who shuffled the ball from right foot to left before slotting it coolly past Bayern keeper Michael Rensing.
Bayern coach Louis van Gaal brought on Ivica Olic for Miroslav Klose up front in the second half and five minutes in, the Croatian striker won a corner that led to great confusion inside the Bremen six-yard box before Clemens Fritz got the ball clear.
Later on, French midfielder Franck Ribery entered the fray for Bayern, replacing Jose Ernesto Sosa. The French midfield dynamo immediately made his presence felt, feeding a great ball through to Olic, who was again foiled by Wiese, the Bremen keeper this time pulling off an excellent reflex save.
Wiese eventually had to pick the ball out of the net in the 72nd minute. Having been caught offside half a dozen times, Gomez this time connected perfectly with a Philipp Lahm cross to stab Bayern level.
