Manchester City proved that their big spending of the last transfer window was worthy by beating Arsenal 4-2 at home on Saturday. Manager Mark Hughes's side has won four out of four Premier League matches this season.
The Gunners played confidently under the charge of captain Francesc Fabregas. French defender William Gallas almost put the visitors ahead after 14 minutes with a powerful header over the bar.
However, Man. City should thank the fortunes as Micah Richards'header was deflected in by Arsenal keeper Manuel Almunia in the 20th minutes.
Almunia stretched hard to hold back Richards' header, but the ball bounced off his own head into the net after hitting the post.
The hosts dominated the match after taking lead but the Gunners fired back vehemently in the second half.
Arsenal turned up the tempo and kept possession, Dutch international Robin Van Persie's low shot after 62 minutes put thetwo teams into a tie.
But Man. City didn't wince at all. In particular, ex-Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor pushed forward aggressively in front of his former teammates. The Togo ace found the net with a header from close range in the 80th minutes after Wales forward Craig Bellamy putting the hosts ahead again with a volley to the top left corner.
Shaun Wright-Phillips fired home Man City's fourth goal before Czech international Tomas Rosicky scoring an insignificant shot for Arsenal after 88 minutes.
