Hong Kong's "King of BMX (bicyclemoto cross)" Steven Wong won the first gold medal of the 5th East Asian Games here on Saturday. Steven Wong won the title with a time of 30.181 seconds.

The silver medal was taken by Masahiro Sampei of Japan at 30.745, followed by Zhao Zhiyang of China in the third place at 31.827. The 5th East Asian Games, featuring some 2,300 athletes from nine countries and regions, is being held for the first time in Hong Kong from Dec. 5-13.
