Botafogo won their second straight game of the Rio de Janeiro state championship on Thursday, beating Friburguense 2-0.
Both of the team's goals were scored by newcomers.
In his debut with Botafogo, Renato Caja scored his team's first goal in the 73rd minute. Receiving the ball from Eduardo, he shook off his defender and angled the ball into the right side of the goal.
Palmeiras's Cleiton Xavier (R) fights for the ball with Botafogo's Diego (L) during their Brazilian Championship soccer match at Joao Havelange stadium in Rio de Janeiro December 6, 2009.
Later, in the 88th minute, Friburguense's Caio knocked down Flavinho in front of the goal, leading to a Botafogo penalty kick. Herrera, another recently signed Botafogo player, took the shot and did not disappoint.
In the state championship third round, Botafogo will play at Vasco da Gama on Sunday. On the same day, Friburguense will host Tigres.
