Defending champion Andy Murray and four-time Queen's Club winner Andy Roddick both won their first matches at the grass-court tournament on Tuesday.
Murray met strong challenges from his opening match opponent Ivan Navarro, managing to take the first set with a tiebreak win of 10-8. But the British No. 1 controlled the second set well, finishing the match 6-3.
"It was good. Tough first match. He served very well in the first set, tricky play, I haven't played a serve and volleyer this year. I thought I moved pretty well and hit the ball back well once I got into the rallies," said the No. 3 seed, who ended his French Open journey in last 16 and had to expect his first Grand Slam title from the upcoming Wimbledon Championships.
American Roddick, who was ousted from this year's French Open even one round earlier than Murray, needed only 50 minutes to see off Russian Igor Kunitsyn 6-2, 6-1.
Spaniard Rafael Nadal is going to play his first opponent Marcos Daniel from Brazil on Wednesday. The 24-year-old prodigy did not only grab his fifth title at Roland Garros two days ago, but also regained the world No. 1 ranking from Swiss Roger Federer.
Nadal has met Daniel just once before in the first round of the 2009 French Open as Nadal won in straight sets.
