In front of the home crowd, swimmer Cesar Cielo opened the 2010 Swimming World Cup stage in Rio de Janeiro by winning the 100 meters freestyle on Saturday.
The event is organized by the world-wide swimming sports organization, FINA. Cielo, the Olympic champion and world-record holder in the event, finished the event with a mark of 47.16 seconds.
Second place went to German Steffen Deibler, finishing close behind with 47.18 seconds. Brazilian Andre Daut finished in third place, earning a bronze medal with a time of 47.78 seconds.
