ANTALYA, Turkey, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese weightlifters Wu Jingbiao and Long Qingquan swept three golds in the men's 56kg category at the world weightlifting championships here Saturday.
Wu, 21-year-old silver winner in last year's worlds, secured the total gold with 292kg, followed by 288kg lifted by defending champion Long Qingquan, 19-year-old winner in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Wu also notched a gold in the snatch by hoisting 132kg and took the second place in the clean and jerk with 160kg, while Long got the first place in the jerk with 161kg.
Wu did not give his competitors any chances in the snatch by lifting 128kg and 132kg in the first two attempts. He lost the third attempt on 135kg but still took the snatch gold, 2kg more than the runner-up Cha Kum Chol of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Wu then sailed through three successful jerks to catch the total gold.
Wu said his physical strength was not in the best condition and that he could have done better.
"I'm satisfied with my performance in the jerk, though ... I'll try to improve myself in future," he said.
Long failed his first two attempts on 127 kg in the snatch but stood with the pressure and succeeded in the final attempt. He tried to challenge 166kg in the jerk but failed.
Long said he did not bring out his best probably because he did not have the right state of mind or not fully adapted to the venue and facilities.
