Armenian weightlifter Ara Khachatryan gave up his last two attempts in the clean and jerk after falling down to injury during the men's 85kg category competition at the world weightlifting championships here Friday.
The 28-year-old silver medallist of this year's European championships had claimed the snatch gold with 175kg before the incident.
Khachatryan fell to the floor with his elbow injured and groaned painfully after he failed to lift 201kg in the clean and jerk.
He was soon carried off the platform for medical care.
