Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was delighted with his players after Tuesday night's 2-0 win against AC Milan.
Early goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil gave Madrid a 2-0 lead after just 14 minutes and Madrid were rarely in trouble against a team that finished above them in the group stage of the competition last season.
The win gives Real Madrid three consecutive wins in the Champions League and virtually assures them a place in the knockout stage of the competition and Mourinho was delighted with the performance.
"We knew Milan were going to play well and we are prepared for it. It was a fantastic game. We concentrated very hard and we were intense in our performance," said the Real Madrid coach, who believed his side should have scored more goals.
"Fortunately it was a group game where goal difference is not such a big factor, but if we had been playing in the knockout stages I would not be happy, because it is a match we should have won 4-0," he said in Wednesday's edition of sports paper Diario AS.
Mourinho also praised the atmosphere in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, which has changed from the early stage of the season when he and his players were booed by a sector of the fans after struggling to score goals.
"There is a very positive feeling. We are building something very positive here, but it is just the beginning. I am going to be here for four years and I hope we can win a lot of things together," he said.
