Danny Jordaan, chief executive officer of South Africa's FIFA 2010 Local Organizing Committee, has been nominated unopposed as fourth vice president of the South African Football Association (SAFA).
The Sowetan newspaper in Johannesburg reported on Monday that Jordaan will be officially elected at SAFA's annual general meeting in Johannesburg on Dec 4.
SAFA members will be in Johannesburg from Dec. 3 to attend the SAFA awards where the federation will honor various people for their contribution to the development of the sport in South Africa.
The Sowetan reported that Jordaan has already signed the acceptance form to become the third elected SAFA vice president after Mandla Mazibuko and Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana.
By secondment Irvin Khoza also serves as SAFA vice president as he is the chairman of South Africa's Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Earlier there had been speculation that Jordaan might return to the federation as chief executive officer after completing his 2010 FIFA World Cup duties on Dec. 31. South Africa hosted the June-July FIFA World Cup.
Jordaan is also canvassing to serve on the Confederation of African Football and FIFA executive committees.
