Canadian cricket team eyes at least two wins in the first round matches in the upcoming World Cup Cricket, which will be their third appearance at this level.
Several members including captain Ashish Bagai of Canadian team, which was first in arriving in Bangladesh on Wednesday, met the media Thursday to share their views on the event, which will kick off on Feb. 19 in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka will co-host the 2011 World Cup Cricket, in which 14 countries are expected to participate. This is for the fist time that Bangladesh got the opportunity of hosting the world's top cricket event.
In line with the International Cricket Council's decision, Bangladesh will host the opening ceremony on Feb. 17 and eight matches including the inaugural one on Feb. 19 and two quarter finals of the 2011 World Cup. Of the matches, two will be held in Chittagong and others will be held in Dhaka.
Canada will play Sri Lanka in their first match on Feb. 20.
"We think we can beat Zimbabwe and Kenya," the captain said citing their previous record win over Bangladesh in 2003 World Cup.
The national team of the North American country boasts players from seven countries. Bangladesh and Canada, who have no match in the first round, will meet in a warm up match on Saturday in southeast port city of Chittagong.
