　　易混辨析　affair，event，business，matter，thing

　　affair意为“事情，事件”，泛指已做或将要做的事，常用复数表示商业事务或政治事务。

　　event指重要、有意思或不寻常的“事件”。

　　business作“事物，事情”讲时，一般不用作复数，主要表示“事物；业务；买卖；责任，份内的事”。

　　matter作“事物”讲时，多为可数名词，侧重指须留心的事或重要问题、难事、棘手的事。

　　thing多指“具体的事情”，不管大小与好坏。

　　活学活用

　　用affair，event，business，matter，thing的适当形式填空

　　(1) The article discussed the event(s) which led to the mayor’s resignation.
