　　In 1981Tsien came to Berkeley School of California University, where he worked as a professor for eight years. In 1989 Tsien moved his lab to San Diego School of California University, where he is a pharmacology professor and a professor of chemistry and biochemistry as well. In 1995 Tsien was made an academician of the U.S. Medical Institute and in 1998 an academician of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.

　　Tsien won lots of important awards from 1991 to 2004, including the 2004 Wolf Prize in Medicine, one of the world’s highest achievement awards. Tsien and two other scientists won the 2008 Nobel Prize in chemistry for discovering green fluorescent protein, commonly called GFP, and developing the protein as a powerful tool for basic biological research. Tsien developed GFP-like proteins that produced all kinds of colors so that a number of different proteins or cells

　　can be followed at the same time.

　　Such is Tsien, one who likes trying anything new in academic (学术的）research. We are sure that he will make greater achievements in the near future.

　　Du Li, the Chinese Shooter

　　Du Li was born in 1982 at Xinyuan County of Zibo City, Shangdong Province. In 1994 Du joined Xinyuan County shooting training class. In 1996 Du became a shooter of Zibo Sports School. Two years later, Du joined Shangdong Provincial Shooting Team. In 2002 Du became a member of the Chinese National Shooting Team. Though her own efforts, Du has won a great many medals since 2002. In 2002 at the 48th World Shooting Championships Du ranked second in the women’s air rifle individual, which was the first time Du took part in international competitions like this.On August 14, 2004 at the Athens Olympic Games Du took the gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle final , the first gold medal for China at the Olympic Games.On August 9, 2008 at the Beijing Olympic Games Du ranked fifth in the women’s 10m air rifle final because of great pressure
