　　AteamfromtheSchoolofDentistry’sViolenceResearchGroupstudieddrinkinghabitsinchildrenaged11～16inEngland.Theyfoundnotonlyalinkbetweendrinkandviolencebutalsothatchildrenwhodrankweremorelikelytobehit，eveniftheyweren’tviolentthemselves.

　　Theresearchersarenowcallingformeasurestopreventalcoholmisusetoreduceinjuryrisk.Currentpolicyfocusesonreducingaggressionbutthisresearchshowsthatthereshouldbeequalefforttoreducevictimization.

　　Morethan4,000childrenweresurveyedat13schoolsatfourlocalauthoritiesintheNorth，theMidlands，London，andtheSouth.Thestudyfoundthat25%of11­year­oldsweredrinkingmonthlyand3.6%daily，with12.8%admittingtogettingdrunk3to5timesayear.Bytheageof16,40%weredrinkingweeklyand6.2%weredrinkingeveryday.Theresearchalsoshowed22.6%of16­year­oldsweregettingdrunkmorethan21timesayear.

　　Thestudy，whichhasjustbeenpublishedintheJournalofAdolescence，foundastronglinkbetweenfrequencyofdrinkingandfrequencyofhittingotherpeople.

　　However，childrenwhoreporteddrinkingmonthlywerealsothreetimesmorelikelytobehit.Adolescentswhodrankbutdidn’tgetintofightsweremorelikelytobehitthanthosewhodidfight.
