The Spring Festival, which usually falls between the first and the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, is the most important festival in China. Before it, people often clean their houses, put up the Spring Festival Couplets as well as buy many beautiful flowers. On New Year’s Eve, all the family, no matter how far away they are,will get together to have a big dinner,
of which the most popular food is dumping, because eating dumplings can bring people good luck.
On the first day of the Spring Festival, everybody wears new clothes, visiting their relatives and friends and greeting “Happy New Year” to each other, and what makes children happy is that they are always given lucky money as a gift. Besides, during the festival, people can watch lion dances and dragon dances, both of which are the traditional folk arts dating back to 2000 years ago.

Tomb Sweeping Day usually falls on April 4 to 6 every year. Being one of the Chinese traditional festivals, it has a long history. On this day, people will go to the cemetery to sweep tombs and do worship events in memory of their ancestors.
After that, people will offer sacrifices such
as wine, foods and flowers before the tomb stone and burn the incense and paper money, and later kowtow to their ancestors. In 2010, the government declared Tomb Sweeping Day as one of the legal holidays, giving the whole nation one day off. * *
