　　Awards Day

　　颁奖之日

　　I came home as fast as I could. As I entered the house, I hugged my mom and said, “Mom, I won an award! I won the City of BeiJing’s excellence award for essay writing! Sunday is the awards ceremony and I want you to come with me.” Mom held me close and nodded happily.

　　Sunday arrived. Mom and I woke up early to arrive at the clothing store and we both bought one dress suit of excellent quality. It took us the whole morning to get ready and we were finally ready to go. The awards ceremony started. Through the sound of clapping, and the TV cameras chasing around, the host of the ceremony called award winners up one by one. At that time, I was so excited that my heart was about to jump out of my chest. I waited for my name but at the end, it wasn’t called! I misunderstood! It was only the first and second place winners that were called up to the stage. I was an ordinary winner just like a normal person in the audience. Tears ran down my cheek. I looked at mom and the new clothes that we were wearing, and then I thought about how we took all morning to get ready. I felt ashamed.
