　　Mother’s Birthday

　　母亲的生日

　　Last Friday evening, my father told me that it would be my mother’s 40th birthday the next day. When he said this, he was very excited and asked me, “What should we buy for your mother’s birthday?” I told him that I couldn’t decide until we went to the shop the next day. Father agreed and said that he would wake me up very early the next morning. Father really kept his promise. At seven o’clock the next morning, I was woken up by my father’s knock at my door. When I opened the door, my father said, “Breakfast was ready.” “You’ve done a good job, father.” To my great surprise, my father replied, “ It’s not me. It’s your mother. She always gets breakfast ready at this time. She always does this, you know.”

　　Having had our breakfast, my father and I went shopping. I told my father to help my mother with the housework first. Father said sadly that my mother didn’t allow us to do that. When I invited my mother to go together with us to the shop, my mother said with a smile that she wanted to take a rest at home. Father and I had been to many shops before we could buy her a beautiful coat and a large birthday cake. When we got home, mother had finished doing all the housework. She sat at the table with various delicious dishes served. Mother didn’t take a rest on her birthday!
