　　【例题】The children are sleeping in beds.

　　C. alone　D. lonely

　　解析:若选A，前要加物主代词；alone为副词，不修饰名词；lonely“孤独的，荒凉的”，意思不对。

　　(1).(v.)(使事物或人) 分离,分开

　　The two parts of the pipe have separated at the joint.

　　这个管子从接口处分成两截了。

　　The patient should be separated from the others.

　　这个病人应该隔离。

　　After ten years of marriage they decided to separate.

　　结婚十年后他们决定分居。

　　(2)separate...from...和divide...into的区别：

　　separate...from...把两个相对独立的东西分开。

　　Taiwan is separated from the mainland by the Taiwan Strait.

　　台湾海峡把台湾和大陆分开了。

　　divide...into 把一个整体分成几部分。

　　He divided the apple into halves.
