remain ＋ adj./doing/done/to be/n./prep.

　　The African people remain very poor/to be very poor.

　　非洲人仍然很穷。 She remained standing for over an hour.

　　她一直站了一个多小时。 The door remained closed. 门依然是关的。 Much work remains to be done. 许多工作有待去做。 ①remaining adj.意思是“余下的，剩下的”，常作定语。 ②It remains to be seen whether/what…是常见结构，“……将拭目以待、还有待观察”。

　　remain 与 stay ①remain指其他人或物移去、分离或遭到毁坏后继续留在原处，此时也可用stay, 但如果用意在于使离开和停留形成对比，使用remain效果更佳。 ②stay指客人、寄宿者或类似的人的暂时停留。

　　Only the shell of the building remained after the explosion.

　　爆炸后，只剩下楼房的框架。

　　He was invited to stay for supper.

　　他被邀请留下吃晚饭。

　　He remained/stayed in his seat after all the other students had gone home.

　　别的学生都回家了他还留在座位上。 完成句子。 1. 虽然他已经吃了很多药，但健康依然很差。 Although he has taken a lot of medicine, his health remains poor.

　　2. 虽然风已经停了，但雨仍在不紧不慢地(steady)下着，因此你仍需带上雨衣。 Although the wind has died down, the rain remains steady， so you still need a raincoat.
