All leaders of the delegations have their group photographs taken. President Hu Jintao also delivered a speech at the summit, expanding on China’s proposals for the SCO’s development over the next decade.
President Hu Jintao said, "We are facing a world in flux, but we have coped with many challenges: from the wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq, to the international financial crisis and west Asian and north African ongoing turmoil that’s challenging peace and development. At the same time, we’ve been following a path of peaceful development. Together we embody the "Shanghai spirit," and carry with us a dedication to peace and friendship. We have created a new model for regional cooperation, and have together seen a series of great achievements. We continue to work together to fight terrorism, separatism and extremism, drug trafficking and organized crime across state lines. And we work to maintain security and development interests, while safeguarding regional peace, security and stability."
