　　APERSON 1.83 m in height would be thought tall in most company.But Chris Paul has to look up to nearly everyone in the NBA.

　　However，the 24-year-old is one of the best point guards(控球后卫)in the league(联盟)，despite the fact he’s shorter than most other players.He also won a gold medal while playing for the US team at the Beijing Olympics.Paul tells his story in his book，Long Shot：Never Too Small to Dream Big.

　　So what are the New Orleans Hornets star’s secrets to success?

　　Paul says we need to set goals(目标)．“Every year since I’ve been in the NBA I’ve set goals，”he said.“As a rookie(新秀)，it was to be Rookie of the Year，make the rookie All-Star game.Then be an All Star，be first-team NBA.I’ve done all that stuff.”

　　As he achieved each goal，he improved statistically(统计数据上地)—last season he averaged 22.8 points and 11 assists(助攻)．“Going into this season，my only goal is to win a championship，”he said.

　　The fact that Paul is a team player also explains his success.No one in the NBA improves his teammates，or is more interested in improving them，than Paul.He gets his teammates involved in the offense(进攻)，gets them shots，and lets them take the credit for winning.“This is a guy who could lead the team to score if he wanted to.That shows the contrast(对比)between him and a guy like Kobe Bryant.As Kobe’s teammate，you are a spectator(观众)．As Paul’s teammate，you become the show，” wrote Mike Moreau，a sports writer with the American magazine Hoopsworld.
