　　Jim, look at this funny picture. I think it tries to tell us that learning by doing is a good way to gain knowledge and solve problems. As we can see, a man is sitting at a table on which there is a plate full of Zongzi, a kind of Chinese traditional food for the Dragon Boat Festival, and a cup. Somehow it seems that he is at a loss to eat them. Believe it or not, he just finds a book on How to unwrap Zongzi and carefully reads it instead of trying himself. As students, we are learning by reading almost every day. It is true that books can tell us a lot and teach us how to deal with some problems. However, there are also some other ways of gaining knowledge, including the way of learning by doing. As the saying goes, “Jump in and get your feet wet ”. In my opinion, by trying and practicing, we can effectively acquire knowledge and remember it easily. Even sometimes we make mistakes, we can learn from them. So isn’t it better to try unwrapping these Zongzi than to read a book telling you how to do it?

　　Our class planned to organize an activity on March 5th , the day in memory of Lei Feng. The day before, we had had a class meeting to discuss what we would do. After a heated discussion, we had decided to go to a senior citizens home to do something for the elderly. On March 5th, we set out early in the morning. As soon as we got to the senior citizens home, we first did a thorough cleaning. Some swept and mopped the floor. Some cleaned the windows and the others did some washing. An hour later, the rooms in the senior citizens home looked clean and tidy and took on a new look. And then we were divided into two groups. One group gave wonderful performances that the elderly enjoyed a lot, the other group taught those who were interested in English some daily English expressions.
