　　他太穷请不起那位大夫，但是那位大夫主动帮助了他。

　　＝The programme affords the chance to gain work experience to young people.

　　这项计划为年轻人提供了获得工作经验的机会。

　　[特别提醒]

　　afford常与can，could，be able to以及其否定形式连用，表示有/无能力、时间、条件等做某事，后面接名词、代词或动词不定式。
