English，in particular，has experienced deterioration and suffered considerably because of the increasing influx(涌入)of text messages that have surrounded our younger generation.While communication is beneficial at one end，the English language is being brutally murdered due to this culture of shorthand of texts.A number of critics have argued that the culture of texting is increasingly encouraging misspellings among the youth，keeping them away from the value of English language and its original form.

　　As the trend of shorthand texts continues，we now see a more disturbing pattern emerging in schools and educational institutions.The trend has already seeped(渗透)its way into our emails and workplace communications.Too many individuals are replacing words such as“you”with“u”．As informal style slowly seeps into formal writing，it is becoming more difficult to teach students how to write in proper English without sacrificing the essence of the language.

　　While guesses for these changing and disturbing trends have been highlighted repeatedly over the past few years，it is only now that we have seen statistical evidence.The average SAT score for students in the U．S.has reduced by a total of 9 points since the year 2006.This means that less than half of the students who took the test were considered suitable for college and high school level English writing.

　　What we need today is a more focused strategy that will allow students and the younger generation to use social media and texting as a form of further strengthening their English language skills.With greater parental controls and more focused curriculums，we might be able to prevent the deterioration of English language in time.
