　　【句法分析】“Near the city”是一个介词短语，表示地点，放在句首，引起了句子的倒装。句子的主语是a volcano。正常语序应该是：A volcano was near the city.

　　【考点聚焦】当表示地点的介词短语或here/there/up/down/in/out/off/away/now/then等副词置于句首表示强调，且谓语动词为be, lie, sit, stand, come, go等时，往往主谓完全倒装。但当句子的主语是人称代词时，则不需要倒装。
