When I read the sentences she sent to me, I noticed that the Chinese characters had been tweaked, but I could still comprehend their meaning.I took a strong interest in this type of new characters.Nowadays, Thanks to the Internet communication, new thoughts and ideas are being introduced to China, which challenged people's traditional values and quickened their pace of life.Young people now are searching for a swift way to communicate with each other.QQ message and instant text message on the mobile phone are two major means they turn to.Further observation made me realize that they added some common radicals to the original characters, making them more vivid, a little like Japanese.My cousin said this gives new life to Chinese language and culture.

　　It's no exaggeration to say the Internet has reinvented our language, but I still can't accept this new cultural phenomenon.It's an insult to our language.Some Chinese characters have meanings in their shapes; one shouldn't superficially change them by adding an additional radical.If the practice spreads among teenagers, it will not only cause damage to their learning, but also have a bad effect on the development of Chinese characters.Though the Internet is inevitably changing many aspects of our lives, we should preserve our cultural heritage which is a treasure passed down from thousands of years ago.It's selfish to distort Chinese characters merely to make them look more beautiful.If so, this has strayed far from the characters' original meanings.So I persuaded my cousin to change her new idea and use standard characters to communicate.And she willingly accepted my advice.
