I stayed in Cape Town for five months—two in the hospital and three at my aunt’s house. Each week my aunt took me for treatment 43 finally my doctor permitted me to go home.A flight was 44 and I started counting down the days.
On the 45 day,the weather was beautiful but windy. As I walked out onto the runway, the hat I was wearing 46 .So much for trying to 47 the fact that I’d lost my hair during chemo treatment.
On the plane,it was 48 to the flight attendant that I was not well, 49 she sweetly helped me to my seat.Later, she came over to 50 me.I told her I was now well and that my 51 appearance was due to the recent transplant.
The flight crew were very 52 to me during the flight. Then,as we 53 Johannesburg, the attendant told me the captain and co-pilot had 54 me to join them for landing.I could hardly 55 it.
In the cockpit (驾驶舱),the captain handed me a headset so I could 56 him and the co-pilot communicate with ground control.
It was late afternoon and the fading sun was turning the clouds different shades of pink and orange. It was beautiful. 57 started softly falling and I watched the plane’s windscreen wipers sweep aside the water. It was an experience I’ll never 58 .
Just six months later,I lost my sight 59 a virus that struck my weak immune system. That airline crew turned what I thought was going to be just another day into an unforgettable 60 one that will stay with me forever.
