　　8．that/which　此处为定语从句，修饰先行词a timer，因关系词替代先行词在从句中作主语，所以可填that或which。

　　9．off　根据语境及空前的“on and”可知，此处用off，表示关灯。

　　10．keep　定语从句的先行词为sensitive lights，且定语从句中谓语动词的数应和先行词一致，应用keep。

But I failed to pass the mid­term examination, which made me great disappointed. So I asked my grandpa for advice when I got to home. You can’t judge your progress by one examination.” He encouraged myself to work hard for long time to check my results. I took my grandpa’s advice.
