　　M: Hi, Mom! Are you going out now?

　　W: Yeah, I’m going shopping at Wal-Mart with your dad.

　　M: When will you be back? I’m hungry.

　　W: Have some cake—there’s a little in the fridge or go to the bakery on the corner and buy some bread. We won’t be back until about6: 30 pm.

　　M: So long?

　　W: YeahI have to return two books to the City Library for your dad, and then I have to pick him up at his company.

　　M: OK. By the way, can you borrow a storybook for me when you’re at the library?

　　W: Sure. OhJackie called you at about 2 o’clock this afternoon.

　　M: What did he say?

　　WHe said that he couldn’t meet you at the school playground tomorrow morning.

　　W: He just said he had something important to do.

　　M: That’s too bad—we’d made plans to play basketball together.

　　W: Well, he said he felt very sorry about it, but said he hoped that you could get together another time and play.

　　M: I don’t know if I want to play basketball with him any more. I hate people who don’t keep their word.
