　　词义辨析　divide，separate

　　divide和separate这两个词都有“分开”的意思，但含义和用法不太相同。

　　(1)divide指的是把人或物分成若干等份，常与介词into连用。

　　(2)separate指的是将一个整体的物品分开或将两个靠近的物品分开，使其不在一起，常与介词from连用。

　　(1)Take the orange and divide it into quarters.

　　(2)He divides his time between his house in Ohio and New York.

　　(3)The money is to be divided up equally among the six grandchildren.

　　(4)If you divide 21 by 3，you’ll get 7.
