Fortunately, burns can be easily treated at home as long as they are handled with care. The first thing to do with a fresh burn is to cool it with running water. Let the affected area cool down for at least 15 minutes and then wipe the area with a piece of clean cloth. Never apply(敷) ice directly to the burn for frostbite(冻伤) may occur. After wiping it dry, apply burn cream on the damaged skin. The moment the cream is applied, cover the area with a bandage to protect it from infection(感染)．

　　Remember that these things would only work for minor burns which include the damage to the outermost layers of your skin or even a little further down. Some serious burns can also be treated at home as long as the burn has only affected a small area. When the pain become unbearable, the person affected should contact the doctor at once. The same is true when too much flesh is already exposed or when a large part of the skin got burned. Doctors can give better burn relief treatments for these kinds of serious burns.
