The Subway service was bringing 81­year­old Maxie Saldanha home Wednesday night，but the driver mistakenly dropped the elderly man off at 301 prudential Dr.，instead of at his intended destination at 101 Prudential Dr.

　　After the elderly rider was dropped at the wrong location，he wandered into a field and was found by a building manager Bill Raines nearly four hours later，shaking by a pond，suffering from cold and icy weather.“My heart stopped beating，”Raines explained.“Next thing I know，there he was...he wasn't moving？”

　　Saldanha's body temperature had dropped to 33 degrees Celsius，a dangerously low level compared to the healthy body temperature of 37 degrees Celsius.

　　The person who was responsible for safely transporting the elderly man was not a Subway driver and wasn't transporting him in a train car.Wheel Trans had sent a taxi to pick up Saldanha，Wheel Trans uses taxis about 50 percent of the time for its runs，a practice that has led to a number of problems.Using cabs costs the Subway system millions of dollars a year.

　　“This was the second incident within a month caused by the same taxi company.”the old man's daughter said.

　　The problems are due to the fact that cab drivers don't receive the training that Subway Operators get，and Wheel Trans General Manager Bob Thacker said this issue needs to be addressed.
