And it rises head and shoulders above the rest... Well, a lot more than that, actually! The world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, is just plain tall! It's almost 2,800 feet tall, which is 1,000 feet taller than the second tallest building. Can you imagine being a windowwasher there? Whoa! Its 163 floors require the use of 57 elevators, and I didn't want to think about how many sets of stairs there are! I mean, how long do you think it would take you to walk up to the top? I'll bet it would take you all morning! One of the funny things of this building is that it's in the middle of a desert, and there aren't any other tall buildings around. It's not like New York or Shanghai, where there are forests of tall buildings all over the place. The American firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed the building in 2004.
