Porter explained, "We were sitting out and heard a loud crash and knew there was an accident on this road, so we came down here."

　　As Porter and his wife appeared on the scene, the fire grew ever larger. According to Porter, "The neighbors, said there was a baby still in the truck, so I jumped in the back of it."

　　Porter managed to enter tile truck and cut the straps (带子) of the child' s car seat with his knife, freeing the child and finally saving her life. "The baby was in the car seat," said Porter. "And, it' s the same car seat my granddaughter had. But I couldn' t get it undone (解开). Before we left，I threw my knife in my pocket. I cut the straps and pulled the baby out.

　　Pointing to a number of other heroes who helped to save the baby, Porter explained, "Luckily, Junior and another neighbor were there, and when I pulled the baby out through the back window, they grabbed the baby, and just a couple of seconds later, the truck was burning pretty good.”

　　The baby was rushed to Memorial Hermann--Texas Medical Center, where she was treated for slight injuries.
