JAKARTA, Aug. 27 -- Chinese twin sisters Jiang Wenwen/Jiang Tingting showed a class of their own, dominating the duet technical routine at the Asian Games here on Monday.
With their revised Flamingo, Jiang sisters collected a total of 92.4101 points, beating Inui Yukiko/Youshida Megumu of Japan in 90.2363 and Kazakhstan's sisters Nemich Yekaterina/Nemich Alexandra in 84.7178.
"We were relaxed during the competition and we enjoyed our Flamingo very much. It is the best performance so far we have had since this year. We are confident that we can play better in tomorrow's free routine which is our favorite Swan," Jiang Wenwen said.
As the only swimmers above 30 and the only mother athletes among all the artistic swimmers, the sisters said they want to be models for their kids.
"Both our daughters are three-years-old. They know that their moms are working hard to realize their dreams. We chat through the internet everyday and they always support us. That it so sweet that they can watch our competition from TV," said Wenwen who will be 32 the end of September.
"We are more experienced and better understanding of the sport comparing with the youngsters. We are at our peak form now," she added.
The duet free routine will be held on Aug. 28 with 11 pairs competing while team event start from Aug. 29.
China has won all eight gold medals on offer of the sport since 2006 Asian Games.
