BERLIN, Sept. 9 -- Germany came from behind and craved out a 2-1 victory over Peru owing to Nico Schulz' late winner at an international test match in Sinsheim, Germany on Sunday.
Goals from Julian Brandt and Nico Schulz secured Germany a hard earned 2-1 win on home soil over resilient visitors from Peru.
The hosts assumed control from the start and dominated possession against Peru, who needed some time to gain a foothold into the clash.
Germany came close to open the scoring as Matthias Ginter headed on target from central position with 13 minutes played.
Joachim Loew's men gained momentum after Marco Reus missed another chance from inside the box seven minutes later.
Despite a dominant performance and a number of chances, it were the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute against the run of the game. Luis Advincula had all tome and space to beat Germany goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen with a low shot into the near post corner.
Germany responded with furious attacks and was rewarded moments later after Julian Brandt chipped the ball over onrushing Peru custodian Pedro Gallese to restore parity.
The Germans continued on the front foot but Timo Werner's goal was ruled offside before the break.
After the restart, Peru came out highly motivated and created a number of chances but neither Jefferson Farfan, who had two golden chances, nor Advincula were able to secure the lead.
