LONDON, Dec. 19 -- Germany's Frederic Wandres shocked local hero Charlotte Dujardin to win the sixth leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup Western European League at the London International Horse Show on Wednesday.
Wandres, riding his 11-year-old Duke of Britain, produced a spectacular personal-best score of 80.030 on his way to victory at the Olympia Exhibition Center, only his second win after the Central European League FEI Dressage World Cup qualifier in Zakrzow, Poland two months ago.
Dujardin, who won three Olympic gold medals in 2017 and 2016 with her horse Valegro, scored an indentical 80.030 with a young Delicato but was beaten into second place when Wandres achieved higher artistic marks.
The Netherlands' Hans Peter Minderhoud, riding 10-year-old stallion Glock's Dream Boy NOP, finished third with a score of 77.990.
