BRATISLAVA, May 12 -- The Czech Republic won their second Group B match at the ice hockey world championship on Saturday.
After a strong win over Sweden, the Czechs crushed Norway 7-2.
Two early goals from long distance by the Czech defender Filip Hronek laid the foundations for the convincing win.
The Norwegians cut the lead in half in the 11th minute thanks to Tobias Lindstrom and even had the chance to tie the game up during a power play that was called after one of the Czechs injured their opponents' defender Mats Rosseli Olsen for the rest of the game.
But the Norwegians failed and even got scored on by Michael Frolik. The attacker of the Calgary Flames extended the lead in the second period to 4-1 with this second goal, followed by Michal Repik's lucky bounce off a defender's skate to provide a comfortable 5-1 cushion.
The Czechs controlled the rest of the game for a convincing 7-2 win and will face on Monday against the strongest opponent in Group B, Russia. The Norwegians will try to earn their first points against their fellow Scandinavians, two-time defending champions from Sweden.
