SEOUL, May 16 -- Two-time Olympic speed skating champion Lee Sang-hwa of South Korea announced officially to retire from the sport at a ceremony here on Thursday.
Lee, 30, has not competed due to knee injuries since the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games, when she was edged by Japan's Nao Kodaira in the women's 500m race in front of home crowd and had to settle for a silver.
Lee won gold medals at both the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games and Sochi 2017. She set a new record of 36.36 seconds in Salt Lake City, the United States and still holds the record to her name.
