NEW YORK, May 4 -- Ba Ban Chinese Music Society, a Chinese orchestra based in New York City, will present an experimental, immersive performance "Changes" on May 18 in Flushing Town Hall to celebrate the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month.
The original experimental performance, which integrates ancient Chinese music, dancing, singing and Tai Chi, will allow eight performers to improvise and interact with the audience and take them on a journey to quest and experience the beauty of changes.
The performance hall of Flushing Town Hall will be transformed into the pattern of Bagua or Eight Trigrams, the eight combinations of three whole or broken lines which were used by ancient Chinese people in their divination.
Founded in 1999, Ba Ban Chinese Music Society of New York is dedicated to the preservation, creation and presentation of Chinese traditional and contemporary performing arts.
May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month -- a celebration of the achievements, contribution, as well as the culture, traditions and history of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
