WARSAW, April 30 -- International Jazz Day is being celebrated in Poland on Tuesday, with a series of concerts across the country.
Every year on April 30, the UNESCO-initiated celebration highlights jazz and its role of uniting people at all corners of the globe.
According to the schedule, a much-anticipated performance by the popular Oles Brothers is expected to attract crowd to Warsaw on Tuesday. The group will perform early works by musician Joe Zawinul.
The Polish Radio Concert Studio kicked off festivities on Monday by hosting the first concerts in Warsaw.
In Katowice, the 8th edition of a local jazz festival has been taking place with about 20 concerts focusing on young European jazz scenes.
While in Krakow, a week-long Jazz Festival is set to conclude with a tribute to composer Krzysztof Komeda on Tuesday evening.
Public broadcaster Polish Radio celebrated with its own two-day jazz fest, which was heard on the main national radio network.
International Jazz Day is celebrated with global programmes including talks, concerts, films, combo workshops, theatre performances and panel discussions, as well as radio and TV broadcasts.
