WINDHOEK, Feb. 21 -- Spearheaded by the ultra-competitive Dan Craven, Namibia Cleaning Chemical Solutions (NCCS) Pupkewitz Pro Cycling team has laid out plans to compete in the Tour of Good Hope and the Cape Town Cycle Tour in South Africa in March.
The Tour of Good Hope - a five-day road race for solo riders and teams - takes place in the Cape Winelands area on March 4-8, while the annual Cape Town Cycle Tour is hosted in Cape Town. Taking place on March 10 and with over 35,000 cyclists, the Cape Town Cycle Tour is the world's largest individually timed cycle race.
By competing in international competitions, the cyclists stand to gain International Cycling Union points while the ultimate objective is to spawn the first ever Namibian team to compete internationally.
The NCCS Pupkewitz Pro Cycling team is captained by Dan Craven and will travel to Cape Town on March 1. Five cyclists in the team are composed of Chipopeni Kashululu, Danzel Dekoe, Xavier Renzo Papo, Johannes Hamunyela and Thulasizwe Mxenge.
